3 Easy Ways to Clean your Makeup Brushes!
Hello again everyone! As always I hope you are having a fantastic day, or night depending on when your reading this! lol
Today is all about those makeup brushes that we never seem to have time to clean. Cleaning our makeup brushes is not usually a high priority when we have such a busy schedule. And I will admit, I am guilty of going a little long on cleaning mine as well. For me, I just don't think about doing it until I am applying my makeup and think, man...I really need to clean these! lol
But, cleaning out makeup brushes should be a priority. I mean you spent good money on them and they need a little TLC from time to time.
But, cleaning our makeup brushes doesn't have to take a lot of time. How about a cleaning task that you can do in under five minutes? Add washing your brushes to your beauty routine at least once a month and your brushes will last longer and you’ll eliminate bacteria on your brushes which eventually will end up on your face! Eww!

- Old makeup builds up on the bristles
- Bacteria from the oils on your face build up on the brushes
- If you use brushes in multiple products like different shades of eye shadow you are cross-contaminating your makeup and shades.
3 Ways to Wash Your Makeup Brushes!
- Daily Brush Cleaner – this works best when you start with clean brushes (I like this one from NYX Cosmetics)
- Mild shampoo or baby shampoo
- Mild hand soap

If you are washing your brushes for the first time in a while, you’ll want to choose hand soap or shampoo. Wet the bristles, add a drop of soap or shampoo, rinse until the water runs clean and blot any extra water on a clean towel. Try to make sure when washing not to get a lot of water in the farrel, which is the metal part that holds the bristles in place. If water gets inside, it can break down the glue and you will notice your bristles start to fall out. Then lay them out to dry on a clean towel. (Clean your brushes after you apply your makeup for the day because it may take a bit for the brushes to fully dry.
Thank you all so much for stopping by!
I hope this helps make your brush cleaning a little easier!
